End of Year Celebrations
We were delighted that so many parents, carers and family members were able to join us for our end of the academic year 2023-2024 celebration event. It was a glorious day and everyone basked in the sunshine as the awards and certificates were presented in recognition of all the hard work that has taken place this year. Our visitors were entertained by some of our musicians who sang and played the drums as everyone was gathering.
The Principal, Andre Bailey, welcomed everyone and explained, “This day is all about our pupils’ journeys and sharing their success. It is about looking at how things have changed for them since they joined Nightingale Community Academy.”
Primary pupils were the first to be recognised and Emily Jones, who leads the Primary phase, was pleased to report on the amazing set of SATS results that the pupils had achieved this year. Awards were presented to individuals for their progress in reading, maths, science, music and PE. There was also the NCA WISE award presented to the pupil who had best demonstrated the NCA WISE values and a Kindness award.
Madeleine Merrifield, who organises the Literacy support group, presented the award for the most improved reader of the year and also thanked the reading volunteers who come into school each week to work with our students.
The secondary presentation began by acknowledging the Year 11 pupils and recognising all the hard work that had gone into their examinations this summer. Awards were presented to pupils across the secondary year groups for their progress.
Mr Bailey also presented medals and certificates to pupils for their attendance and made a plea to parents to support the school with maintaining good attendance, “If children aren’t here, we can’t do anything. If they are not in school, they cannot make progress,” he said citing a recent government report linking attainment and school attendance.
After the formal presentations, our pupils and their families enjoyed lunch and spending time outside in the school grounds. There was also an opportunity for parents and carers to talk about their son’s progress and end of year report.
