Science Fair success

Students have been hard at work in their Science classes this term and we were pleased to showcase the results of their work at a special Science exhibition. Every student chose a science topic to investigate and find out more about.

Topics included:

  • How does diet affect fitness?
  • What is friction
  • The geometry of banking a basket
  • How does spin affect the trajectory of a kicked soccer ball?
  • How can we simulate rocket launching?
  • Where do fireworks get their colours?
  • What makes a roller coaster safe or unsafe to ride?
  • The science of brain injury in combat sport
  • Shaping thoughts: how does the brain pay attention?
  • What makes our blood red?

After conducting research and experiments, students wrote up their findings and created display boards explaining what they had learnt. Students, staff and family members had the chance to come and read the displays.

They also voted on their favourites with prizes being awarded both on popularity and scientific content. Students were rightly proud of their projects and enjoyed applying science in lessons to real life questions.
