Tom’s Farm welcomes the community on Open Farm Day

Tom’s Farm threw open its gates and welcomed the local community to Open Farm Day on Saturday 27th June. We were delighted to welcome so many of our neighbours and local families on such a bright, sunny day.

Visitors enjoyed watching the sheep shearing demonstration and meeting all of the animals. The animal handling tent was particularly popular with younger visitors, as was the face painting. Children loved the straw obstacle course with plenty of friendly rivalry as they competed for the fastest time around the course. Visitors also had the opportunity to learn new skills at the Build a Birdbox stall.

There was food, drinks and ice cream to keep everyone refreshed. One lucky family won the raffle prize of a hands-on farming experience, and many visitors left carrying at least one bag of plants from the horticulture team.

A huge thank you goes to the whole farm team, the staff who helped with the organisation and on the day, our amazing volunteers who manned the stalls, the catering team from Connect Catering for providing food and refreshments, and our sponsors who generously supported the event, including the sheep shearing demonstration sponsored by Savills and the straw obstacle course sponsored by Knight Frank.

Kate Chimen, Farm Manager, said, “We were delighted to welcome so many visitors to our Open Farm Day. The support from our local community was incredible, and it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying everything the farm has to offer. Every pound raised will be reinvested back into the farm, helping us care for our animals, enhance our facilities and create even more opportunities for our learners to develop practical skills, confidence and a love of the outdoors.”
