Nightingale Community Academy celebrates glowing Ofsted report
Learners, staff and the whole Nightingale Community Academy community are celebrating the publication of a fantastic Ofsted report following a recent inspection.
The team of inspectors visited the school at the end of April and reported back that excellent, consistent work is making a real difference to learners in most areas and the school is doing everything it should be doing in the remaining standards.
Following a two-day inspection on 21 and 22 April 2026, the school was assessed under Ofsted’s revised grading system, that was introduced at the end of 2025. Inspectors concluded that the school is working to a strong standard in key areas, including achievement, attendance and behaviour, inclusion, leadership and governance, personal development and wellbeing. In the other two areas – curriculum and teaching and Post 16 provision – the school is at the expected standard. A strong standard is defined by Ofsted as excellent, consistent work that is making a real difference for children and learners, and expected standard means the school is doing everything it should be doing.
The report highlights the school’s overall success: “Trustees, governors and school leaders have clear and well-thought-through ambitions for the school. Pupils’ best interests are front and centre.”
Inspectors praised the supportive learning environment: “Pupils develop confidence in their ability to learn and concentrate. They learn to focus on tasks and take pride in finishing work.”
The report also praised the work of staff and the positive culture they had created: “Pupils and staff work together positively in this caring and purposeful school community where relationships matter.”
The Inspectors also noted positive outcomes achieved: “Pupils are well prepared for adulthood. Pupils develop independence, confidence and readiness for life beyond school.”
Principals Sarah Brooks and Simon McBride, thanked everyone for their hard work and commitment to the school: “We would like to thank the whole school community including our learners, their families, staff, governors and trustees for all their support. This report highlights how the school is building secure foundations and enabling everyone to make progress and gain meaningful outcomes. Well done!”
In summary the report said: “Pupils experience a calm, welcoming and friendly school.”
