RE Teaching

Religious Education (RE) is taught as part of the PSHE curriculum for KS3, KS4 and KS5 students. The aim is to promote understanding, respect, and awareness of different belief systems. These lessons will take place once per half-term and will cover the following religions and perspectives:

  1. Islam
  2. Christianity
  3. Judaism
  4. Hinduism
  5. Sikhism
  6. Scientific Rationalism or Secularism

Each lesson will explore three key aspects:

  • Beliefs: The core principles of the religion or worldview.
  • What is Sacred: Important texts, places, or symbols.
  • Practices: Common rituals, customs, or traditions.

The goal is to foster respect for diversity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of different cultures and beliefs.

Parents/Carers have the right to withdraw their child from RE lessons but we would ask you to contact the school and ask to speak to Layla El Jabali email  lel-jabali@nightingaleca.org if you are considering doing so.
