Learn with the Lords

Year 9 pupils had an amazing opportunity to learn all about the House of Lords and its role in democracy when they took part in a Live Q&A session with Baroness Bull. This was part of their Theme B: Democracy at Work in the UK unit in GCSE Citizenship.

The session was organised through the Parliamentary Teaching Team and it was the first time our pupils have had access to the House of Lords in this way. Baroness Bull gave our pupils a virtual tour of the House of Lords and talked what she does on a day to day basis. Our pupils were also able to ask questions and were particularly interested to hear about some memorable debates and what the most challenging aspects of her role are. The session was recorded so it can be used for teaching sessions in the future.

All the pupils showed great interest in the session and it was a great opportunity to widen their understanding and access this fantastic resource.
