Working out with Joe Wicks
Joe Wicks, the Body Coach, brought the energy to our sports hall this week. He put students and staff through one of his famous workouts and had everyone in the hall, stretching, jumping and running in a fun, energetic session.
After everyone had time to catch their breath, Joe took questions which ranged from asking for tips on keeping fit and healthy and how he had found running the London Marathon with Daddy Pig.
Joe Wicks reminded everyone of the importance of daily exercise, he said: “Whatever is going on in your world and in your mind and in your body, you can really change how you feel just by doing a bit of exercise, just by releasing a bit of that energy or stress you might be feeling.”
All those who joined in the session agreed they felt good after taking part in his work out and he was pleased to hear that sport and exercise are a big part of the daily routine at Nightingale Community Academy.
Principal, Sarah Brooks, said, “Students love to take part in football, basketball, and playing outside and it really helps them to regulate and come back and concentrate in class.”
She thanked Joe for coming along and giving everyone a lift and inspiring the whole community, especially as his visit coincided with Mental Health Awareness Week.
Before leaving Joe had time to sign autographs and recipe books, which he was thrilled to do. He also smiled and posed for photos with everyone. We are so grateful to him for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit the school and give us all such a boost.
His final message was a reminder for everyone to make exercise part of their daily routine and pointed students in the direction of his YouTube channel and his Activate with Joe Wicks for daily work out inspiration, which can be found in CBeebies.
