World Mental Health Awareness Week

Between 13 and 19 June, the world acknowledges Men’s Health Week 2022. This annual event is organised by the Men’s Health Forum and aims to raise awareness of preventable health problems that disproportionately affect men and encourage them to gain the courage to tackle their issues. It is particularly important for our school community to raise awareness of this issue as it is very important for young men with SEMH to have a range of strategies they can use to look after their mental health.

According to the Mental Health Foundation, approximately 1 in 8 men have a common mental health problem such as anxiety, stress, or depression. When left unattended, these problems can worsen and be detrimental to those affected.

With this in mind, we interviewed 10 men in our school community, asking them how the look after their own mental health for our assembly this week. Please view the video above.

If you would like more information about how we provide mental health support to our students or you have a particular concern you would like help with, please contact our therapy team on: info@nightingaleca.org

The principal and leadership team, well supported by the Orchard Hill College and Academy Trust, have provided strong leadership, which has had a positive impact on the school’s effectiveness. As a result, there have been improvements in all areas, most noticeably in pupils’ behaviour and attitudes, the curriculum and in the wider opportunities for pupils.
