How you have helped

A range of new musical instruments:

We have been able to purchase a range of new musical instruments as well as introduce drum tuition for two years, thanks to grants from The Radcliffe Trust, Tom Ap Rhys Charitable Trust and The Humphrey Richardson Taylor Charitable Trust.

We were able to purchase a portable grand piano, T-bone, P-Trumpet and P-Cornet synthetic instruments, Djembe drums, drum sticks, a cello, music books, microphone and leads.

This project has made a significant impact on our young people and the funds have enabled more of our students to benefit from a range of new musical opportunities. The drum tuition has been hugely popular and many of our pupils touch the drums every week. The drumming not only supports key milestones in our music curriculum such as rhythm and time keeping, which has vastly improved for many of our students, but it has helped our young people to develop an enthusiasm and enjoyment for music.

“S’s attendance at music class has shot up whereas before it was a subject he was ready to dismiss. The drum club has been a safe space for him to explore an instrument with no judgement or negativity.” – Nightingale Community Academy music teacher

Other projects across the Trust

Over the last two years, across our family of schools, we have been able to fund the following projects thanks to generous grants and donations:

  • A new outdoor trim trail at Addington Valley Academy
  • A new space to teach construction at Unified Academy
  • Financial support towards the Year 6 residential at The Link School
  • A canopy at The Link School to provide all-weather access to the school’s engagement garden
