Royal Albert Hall concert

A group of Primary Pupils had the most amazing experience when they performed at the Royal Albert Hall in Wandsworth Music’s A Brighter Sound Concert. They joined a Primary School choir of over 900 pupils from schools across Wandsworth Borough at this sold out concert in one of the best music venues in London, if not the world!

Some pupils also performed the world premiere of This World is Ours, a piece of music created by the pupils at special schools in Wandsworth in collaboration with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Graveney School. Musicians from the orchestra come and work with our pupils and encourage them to try different instruments enabling our pupils to learn from some of the best professional musicians in the country. We have been working with this group which includes pupils from Garratt Park School and Oak Lodge School over the last two years.

Music lessons are supported by Wandsworth Music service teachers, who come in every week to teach singing and instruments lessons. The concert on the evening of Tuesday 28th March showcased the amazing work of Wandsworth Music Service not only at Nightingale Community Academy, but also in schools across the borough.

The principal and leadership team, well supported by the Orchard Hill College and Academy Trust, have provided strong leadership, which has had a positive impact on the school’s effectiveness. As a result, there have been improvements in all areas, most noticeably in pupils’ behaviour and attitudes, the curriculum and in the wider opportunities for pupils.
