NCA pupils star in video portraits
We proud to share that some of our pupils were chosen to take part in this autumn’s Liberty Festival 2025 which is a celebration of disabled artistry in Wandsworth from 24-29 September. It is the Mayor of London’s flagship disability arts festival, platforming some of the most exciting disabled creatives, showcasing bold, innovative work that excites and challenges audiences, and reframes disability and will be one of the highlights of the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture festivities in Wandsworth.
As part of Liberty Festival, Chocolate Films, who are based in Wandsworth, were commissioned to visit special schools in the borough to create unique video portraits of six pupils, celebrating who they are and telling the story of their creative passions.
Noel, a Year 11 pupil at Nightingale Community Academy was one of the pupils chosen and his video portrait shows him composing his own music and speaking about his gratitude towards his music teacher, Hamish Gallie at NCA. Noel left the school this summer to take up a place at SupaJam, a specialist Music College in Wandsworth.

Chocolate Films also produced a short film of pupils from across the Wandsworth Special schools talking about how they like to be creative and how it makes them feel. It features another NCA pupil, Zac on the drums. Some of the younger boys in Willow Class bravely stepped in front of a green screen to talk about their favourite creative activities and describe how being creative makes them feel.
This film is called How to be creative, and you can watch it using the link below
Wandsworth is The Mayor’s London Borough of Culture 2025 and the Liberty Festival brings a celebration of disabled artistry to the borough from 24-29 September. Pupils featured in the videos were invited to a special screening on the films at The Exhibit in Balham.
