Consultation to change the planned pupil numbers at NCA

We are currently undertaking a consultation to formally change Nightingale Community Academy’s (NCA) planned pupil numbers stated in the school’s funding agreement that it holds with the Department for Education (DfE).
Background
NCA is a special school that currently provides for boys aged 5 to 19 with social, emotional and mental health needs. All pupils have an Educational Health Care Plan. NCA works closely with the London Borough of Wandsworth to ensure its offer meets the local requirements and complements other local provisions.
Over the last few years, NCA has met the demand of additional children across existing year groups. As a result of this incremental increase, NCA currently offers places to 137 children which is above its current funding agreement of 120 places. Wandsworth Council has identified a need for more special school places to be provided locally for pupils whose needs could be met by the specialist team at NCA and this could potentially increase the total number of pupils to 166.
As NCA is an academy, the expansion proposal would need to be approved by the DfE and we are therefore seeking the views of parents and other interested parties through this consultation in order to inform the DfE’s decision-making process and to change the Funding Agreement to 166 places.
The consultation is on the proposal to amend the number of planned places at Nightingale Community Academy from 120 to 166 from September 2025.
The Consultation Process
The consultation period on this proposal will run from Tuesday 25th February 2025 to Tuesday 18th March 2025 and we invite you to take part in the following ways:
Public meetings where you can meet the School and Trust leadership team and ask questions, will be held at:
- Nightingale Community Academy, on 11th March 2025 as follows:
- 9.30am – 11am – at the school site (Nightingale Community Academy, Beechcroft Road, London SW17 7DF)
- 3.30pm – 5pm – at the school site (Nightingale Community Academy, Beechcroft Road, London SW17 7DF)
