Annual Trip to Jamie’s Farm!
Students from Nightingale Community Academy returned to Jamie’s Farm after such a successful trip last year. Jamie’s Farm is a provider who offer ‘farming, family and therapy’ through a short residential stay and follow up programme. Their aim is to re-engage children with educational life, and enable them to fulfil their potential both in school and the wider social setting.
During their visit they participated in a range of activities including farming, cooking, gardening, log chopping, therapeutic horse work and walking in the countryside. They lived like a family; working, eating and playing together. After each meal they reflected on their success and behaviour, giving compliments and showing recognition of the rest of the group’s achievements. All of the students also benefitted from having one to ones with a therapy coordinator, as well as group sessions.
Jonty Perchard, Education Manger said “They were focused, kind and caring, and enthusiastic; working hard and up for every challenge. They also engaged in sharing feedback for each other and challenges for their return. Every student demonstrated their confidence and independence.”
Students are already talking about next year and how they cant wait to return!
