Prevent and British Values

Nightingale Community Academy is committed to promoting Fundamental British Values:

  • Democracy
  • The rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual respect
  • Tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs

The PREVENT DUTY guidance under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 is to protect Learners from harmful ideologies, radicalisation, extremism, and any actions or beliefs contrary to fundamental British values and our Academy’s ethos.

Nightingale Community Academy believes and actively supports the view that all students should be protected from radicalisation and extremism.

The Prevent Duty Lead is Andrea During, the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Key aspects of the PREVENT Duty in Schools:

  1. Respond to the ideological challenge of terrorism and the threat we face from those who promote it
  2. Prevent people from being drawn into terrorism and ensure that they are given appropriate advice and support
